According to him,one of his greatest memories back home was bringing his ukelele to his father' room Jo Vill, a full time musician. He was quoted saying “He would be rehearsing so I’ll bring my ukelele, stand next to him and strum, and try to copy him.”
Cyril Villanueva revealed that despite he is now living in Australia for many years, he always keep constant contact with his relatives in Davao City, that he knows everything about Filipino culture, food especially the love and passion of Filipinos for music. He also noted saying “There was a karaoke machine inside every house.It was inevitable that I would fall in love with music,” Cyril's quipped.

Aside from his father who molded him to become a music lover, the X factor winner revealed one of his recording music artists and idol Gabe Bondoc and he wish to have a collaboration and meet the singer personally.
He also expressed gratitude to all Filipinos who kept on supporting him in the X Factor Australia until the very end.
