Miss Philippines Maxine Medina will be wearing Rhett Eala's creations in the evening gown and national costume competitions of the Miss Universe pageant.
While the designs remain a secret, Eala—who is known for dressing beauty queens and celebrities alike—spilled details on the national costume's accessories.
"I can only tell you that the headdress of Miss Philippines will be designed by Jewelmer. There's going to be South Sea pearls on it," he said in an interview on Wednesday.
Eala added that he opted for "sexy and elegant" for the evening gown.
"I can just say that it's very sexy, but very elegant also... Maxine's concern is she wants to show off her figure, so I'm not going to do anything not flattering for her figure," he said.
Eala and Medina have been working on the designs for months, and both are excited to show off the results.
"We've been working on it since Maxine won," said Eala. "She gave me a couple of weeks [after her win], then we started sending sketches back and forth, get approvals, working on fittings... It's a collaboration between me, Maxine, and the Binibini organization."
Medina will also wear outfits by other Filipino designers during the competition.
The 65th Miss Universe grand coronation night will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena on January 30, 2017.
