Hello everyone and thank you for the countless support that I got each time I posted a not so good write ups in my blog. Not even claiming I'm a good writer.I remember what my late Uncle Jemson told me - to be a good writer you must be a good reader.
I know someday I'm on that level. Being a novice writer and new in the world of blogosphere is like a baffling unsteady road of bravely trudging criticisms and expectations from other. But being inside the box of limitations is a different thing. All I wanted is to write something that I'd like to say, express my thoughts and share new things around the world. That's the reason why I've come up to the shortest blurb (on history,I guess haha) of the site which is called Pinoy Etchetera: Talk,Post and Share All-in-one blog to find everything you want. Perfectly simple and precise.
Maybe some of you have already noticed about my previous blogs which I honestly don't claim it as mine. Links and authors name are provided to ensure copyrights and also give credits to them. To answer that, re-sharing or re-posting writers article to this site is not a measurement of my capability as a novice writer (I know I have lots of things to improve) Most especially if I don't have a source of getting the information (which is more technical) so to be more safe,I give whole credits to the right owner/author as much as I can.
To my readers, again thank you. The indescribable feelings of winning a jackpot or seeing your greatest Hollywood star is the same feeling of delightfulness that I'm feeling right now. So surprised upon knowing that I have some great viewers from Norway,Korea,Ukraine and Canada which really made me more enthusiastic and dedicated now of writing more interesting cool blogs. Not to mention, USA and Philippines are my huge readers so I also thank them too.
By the way, yesterday I started making a new blog which I myself can relate to. But hey don't worry I'm not saying that I will no longer creating blogs for Pinoy Etchetera co'z this is also something very special to me. I promise that I will keep on writing each days/weeks and months. The new blog that I'm talking is about a basic lesson procedures that each students and professional nurses must have. Putting a gag on my mouth about the blog for now, sorry guys. I'm still on the process of making it right, developing stage of learning how to write, techniques on how to entice readers so I could catch their attention and maybe follow me.Trying my very best to read some great blogs and articles that I followed. It's really my pure commitment and genuine intention to share things to your readers by means of the social media. That's my ultimate goal.
So let's move on now to the real purpose of posting this blog.
Today, Christmas holiday is nearly coming and every single day seems to be more symbolic and getting exciting most especially to all kids who are counting each days and waiting for the so called "aguinaldo" ( its a Filipino tradition of giving gift by the way).Indeed, children around the world are just the same when it comes to Christmas. A very common denominator that parents and relatives will not be bombarded of the kind of gift that they will going to give. Gifts should not always expensive and glamorous as it is every year. You can give a different and unique gift that has more meaning to them since Christians believers believe the essence of true Christmas is all about love.By the way, I'm a Muslim and Islam so forgive me if I have written wrong information about Christmas. Christmas for us is what we call it "Ramadhan" where we perform our sacrifice every (9) ninth month of the Islamic calendar. In this month, we offer our divine faith to Allah. We do fasting and offer prayers then after a simple yet meaningful celebration called "Eidl Fitr"-a feast of breaking the fast.We do offer prayer, time with family and a humble prepared foods.Whether you're celebrating Xmas and mine is Ramadhan, the good cause for all of us is we should always love one another because God loves us.
Just to shift things, today I wanna share what I already did in the past few months and this might give you a fundamental idea on how you can turn your old things into a useful and personalized Christmas gift decor.
For the Snow Man
What you need is your old magazines or newspapers, Scotch tape, tissue paper, scissor, old paints ( I recommend water-based paints because this is more economical),glue/paste (what I did, I used leftover 50mg cornstarch pack and dissolved it in boiling water),paint brush and candle,sticks/dried branches(use for snowman hands)
For the Santa Claus face:
All materials that are mentioned above is needed. So you'll just add cotton, extra red and white cloth and plastic cups ( to be use for Santa's eyeglasses). Then you're ready to go!
Below are some photos taken during the actual demonstration.

How to do it?
Doing this is simply by making a paper mache.
Tear newspaper into strips. HINT: always make the last layer of mache with white computer paper or paper towel so that painting is easier. It takes FAR less paint. If you don't do this, consider priming the project with white acrylic paint before you let the kids at it with the poster paint.
Make paper mache paste.Of course there are many different options available but on this activity I used flour or cornstarch.
COOK METHOD: 1 part flour to 5 parts water... boil about 3 minutes and let cool (my favorite! it's the cheapest method and is nice and smooth).
Make a model for Santa Clause facial structure( which is kinda hard) Snowman is more easier and wont really consume time. You'll just need to make a not so perfect round ball shape. One for the top part (which is the head) and the other ball for the body.
Cover your project with no more than 4 layers of paper mache. Let dry COMPLETELY. Once again cover with no more than 4 layers. Continue this process until it's as solid as you want it. Then you can now add water-based paints to the it's surface.
For Santa's face, I guess you should try to look for the Santa Claus face photo on the internet so you could have a model (person who has a God given talent in artistry just dont mind this).haha
Santa Claus eyeglasses, get the old plastic cups and cut in horizontally. Make two and attach it together.
And lastly, be creative as much as you can.Learn how to design and personalized your own snowman and Santa Claus.
