The singer sang “Note To God,” an inspirational track written by Diane Warren that was popularized by Charice. The emotional ballad built to an incredible high note at the end that seemed to leave everyone in awe, including Lott herself.
“Wow, baby!” exclaimed Jennifer Lopez. “That was a very brave performance, to come out and do that first time performing for people.” The judge noticed Lott was trembling and told her, “If you weren’t shaking you wouldn’t be human right now.” Harry Connick Jr. called the performance “powerful,” and Keith Urban said, “You’re giving everybody a run for the money.”
Lott’s performance was showcased along with those of the other 11 women in the Top 24, after a taping last week at the Fillmore in Detroit. As Gossip Cop reported, the 12 men in the group were featured on Wednesday’s episode. Next week, four people of each gender will be eliminated based on viewers’ votes from these two nights, taking the crop of remaining contestants from 24 to 16.
