Fashion designer and model Maggie Wilson-Consunji took to her Facebook account where she shared a flak against exclusive island resort Balesin after one of its staff wouldn’t let the nanny of her son Connor order her meal and instead offered her a “yaya’s meal.”
Based upon the report of Coconuts Manila, the management of Balesin noted that yaya’s meal has been available since it started operations, but it is only offered upon the request of the exclusive members of the island resort.
The report noted that the yaya meal is off from the menu. It is only applicable for members asking not to pay the full meal price for their helpers such as of nannies.
The 500-hectare island of Balesin is comprised of 22 restaurants and in the main restaurants where “yaya meal” is available, an order of pork or chicken adobo with rice is served. The other one is a package accommodation after a nanny check in at a room for nannies only. Additional payment (P200) is required for a to avail 3 meals.
The issue involving Balesin has already generated various reaction from the netizens who were able to read the post of Consunji. Some blasted the management of the island resort for being “discriminating”.
The management of Balesin is yet to issue an official statement regarding the message of Consunji.
