The undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather continued his winning streak in the sweet science of boxing as he defeated the Filipino boxing icon, Manny Pacquiao during their highly anticipated fight of the century at the MGM Grand Arena.
The victory of Floyd Mayweather put a decisive stamp on his legacy as boxing’s greatest boxer by winning a unanimous decision over Pacquiao. The judges scores were 118-110, 116-112 and 116-112, all for Mayweather.
Floyd Mayweather (48-0, 26 KO) executed his game plan to perfection in the majority of the rounds. The former Olympians jab and footwork worked perfectly against Pacquiao as he kept the fight in the center of the ring and at a pace where he was able to comfortably keep Manny on the outside.
The Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KO) had a few isolated spots in the fight, even rocking Mayweather with hard left hands on a couple of occasions, but he just wasn’t able to cut the distance or force Floyd to work above his usual work rate.
With the victory of Floyd Mayweather Jr., he was able to depend his pound-for-pound crown and unifies the WBC, WBA and WBO Welterweight Championships in the world’s most anticipated showdown in boxing history.
At the end of the game during the interview, Manny Pacquiao claimed that he thought he won against Mayweather because the undefeated American boxer did nothing, and just keep on fighting from the outside.
