Bobby Murphy ranked second in the world, while his Snapchat co-founder Evan Spiegel ranked no. 1 in the world as the youngest billionaire at 24 years old.
According to Forbes, Bobby Murphy and Evan Spiegel’s company Snapchat had received new funding offers at an eye-popping valuation of $19 billion. Based upon Forbes estimates, Bobby Murphy has a stake of at least 15% shares in Snapchat.
The Filipino-American Bobby Murphy graduated from Stanford University and met fellow Kappa Sigma fraternity brother Evan Spiegel way back the year 2010 and on 2011 they launched an app originally called Picaboo, which got little traction.
The duo relaunched their app with a re-branded name Snapchat, a product which allows you to send a photo with a caption or writing on it that “disappears” in 10 seconds or less. Right now Snapchat’s user base could be approaching as many as 200 million people from around the world.
Bobby Murphy graduated with a degree in Mathematics and Computational Science, he is the son of California State employees and a Filipina mother, who emigrated from the Philippines and grew up in Berkeley, California.
