According to France’s Transport Minister there were “no survivors” from the crash of the Germanwings Airbus A320 owned by Germany’s flagship carrier, Lufthansa. The plane was travelling from the Spanish coastal city of Barcelona to the German city of Dusseldorf when it went down in the Barcelonnette area in southeastern France.
Based upon earlier report, the crashed Germanwings flight was carrying 142 passengers and six crew members, but the officials of Germanwings updated the report and confirmed that a total of 150 people were on board the ill-fated Airbus A320.
French President Francois Hollande says that they expected no survivors in the worst air disaster in France this year. Germanwings also aired an official statement that the Airbus A320 flight has 144 passengers, two pilots and four flight attendants.
The French Civil Aviation noted earlier that the crew of the ill-fated Germanwings flight had sent a distress signal at 10.47 Am local time (9.47 GMT) or 46 minutes after take-off. The investigators also announced that they had already found the crash site which is located at around 6,500ft in the Alps but the cause of the crash remains unclear.
