In a joint pres conference held on Thursday, the three networks together with Solar Sports TV announced the undertakings of the three networks which will happen for the very first time in Philippine TV history.
Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao also confirmed the news to his fans and followers in the Philippines, during an interview through Skype. He was quoted as saying “Maraming, maraming salamat sa GMA 7, ABS-CBN, TV5 at sa Solar Sports sa pagkakaisa nila para maipakita, maipalabas sa ating mga kababayan ang fight na ito,” Pacquiao stated.
Manny Pacquiao added further that “Natutuwa ako sa kanilang pagkakaisa, na ang hinahangad ay para sa ating mga kababayan. Salamat,” he added.
The multi-network telecast of the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather was made through the effort of Solar Entertainment CEO Wilson Tieng for arranging the deal for the benefit of the Filipino fans. Solar Sports Entertainment holds the broadcast rights for Pacquiao’s fight.
The Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight will be aired on free television on slightly delayed basis. Solar Sports will also show the fight on cable television through Pay-Per-View with Signal and Sky Cable as the official pay-per-view providers.
